Partner Event: Sound Bath & Poetry at Japanese Tea Garden

Partner: San Antonio Parks Foundation

Come enjoy an evening of Sound Meditation accompanied by live Poetry in the outdoor landscape of the beautiful and historic Japanese Tea Garden.

The Sound Bath and Meditation will start sharply at 6:00pm and run through 7:00pm, followed by a Poetry Reading from 7:30pm-8:30pm. Sound Bath attendees are encouraged to arrive no later than 5:45pm, and to bring their own personal mats or chairs, to enjoy either a laying or sitting experience.

May 22 will feature Poets Alice Holden & Olga Samples Davis .

Teletextile will present the one hour sound bath experience, and will be lead by Pamela Martinez, a Reiki master, educator, multi-instrumentalist and notable composer. A genre-hopping performer and musician, Martinez’s resume includes performing violin at Carnegie Hall with a Carnatic Indian music ensemble, singing in San Francisco's historic Fillmore Theater, and taking part in contemporary performance art happenings in New York City. Participants of the Sound Bath can expect to be lulled into deep relaxation using the sounds of singing bowls, gong, harmonium, vocals, and other sound sources to provide a meditative and healing environment.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted for those wanting to make a contribution.
